LEGACY
2030
Take for yourselves twelve stones from here, out of the midst of the Jordan, from the place where the priests’ feet stood firm. You shall carry them over with you and leave them in the lodging place where you lodge tonight.”
(Joshua 4:3)
What do these stones mean, then? Like for the children of Israel, the Lord has and is carrying us through the “Jordans” of our lives. We have all only been able to overcome because of the grace, power, faithfulness and goodness of God. These stones for us then represent the callings/territories the Lord has given us (i.e., our “tribes”) through fiery trial and tribulation. They are representative of His victories in the specific areas He called us to cross over into.
The LORD uses this verse to paint a wireframe of 2030 vision for IMPACT. Take up your stones from here
- Out of the midst of the Jordan speaks of the impossibilities or challenges we may face in life.
- From the place where the priests’ feet stood firm – refers to the source of our strength which comes from our steadfast service before God.
Carry them over with you
- Some people may have bigger sizes of stones, some may have smaller stones. We don’t need to compare our stone with others. Our assignment is to pick up a stone that represents our tribe and carry it faithfully.
- IMPACT’s stone is WORSHIP and MISSION
Leave them in the lodging place
- Bring the stones back to our spheres of influence, our fields (family, work, ministry or social circles, etc)
- When the twelve stones are placed according to the formation of each tribe, we will see a cross. WE must serve and work as a TEAM in order to manifest the Cross.
And Joshua set up at Gilgal the twelve stones they had taken out of the Jordan. He said to the Israelites, “In the future when your descendants ask their parents, ‘What do these stones mean?’ tell them, ‘Israel crossed the Jordan on dry ground.’ For the LORD your God dried up the Jordan before you until you had crossed over. The LORD your God did to the Jordan what He had done to the Red Sea when He dried it up before us until we had crossed over. He did this so that all the peoples of the earth might know that the hand of the LORD is powerful and so that you might always fear the LORD your God.”
Joshua 4:20-24
As a house of God, we’ll need to pass down a God-centered legacy to the future generations. In other words, they will build upon what we’ve established. Whatever challenges we face and the testimonies of how we overcome those obstacles will eventually become the building blocks for the next generation. Therefore do not be afraid, be strong and courageous as God encourages us to overcome the giants of our lives, and take the land as our possessions. For the LORD is faithful and His mercy endures forever. Amen.
